Hello Kinder Families, Happy GIVING TUESDAY! Today at morning meeting the students and I talked about ways we could be kind and give back to one another and the school. The students came up with a fantastic list and even began implementing some of them throughout the day. Literacy: This week we are going over letters V & W. Both yesterday and today, we brainstormed V and W words and wrote them on the board. Many students noticed question words (why, what, when, where) all have the W sound at the beginning. Students are continuing their practice by utilizing tracer worksheets, playdough letter makers and our new Launch & Learn game (it came in our DonorsChoose package). Math: On Monday, we incorporated attribute blocks into the whole group math lesson. Students learned that attribute blocks are different than pattern blocks. We use attribute blocks to form different categories such as large & small, blue & red, square & triangle. Several students were given the opportunity to make a "rule" for their friends to guess. Today we played one last turkey game with dice. Students needed to roll and add the number of dots together. The kiddos did a fantastic job and several of them took their time and made some CRAB WALL WORK! After, the children were able to recall what a graph is. As a group, we graphed our favorite foods and favorite colors. Tomorrow we will revisit attribute blocks and continue to talk about graphs. Enrichment: Science: We have finally finished up all of our investigation and work with pumpkins. On December 1st, we will start a new unit that will continue through the end of January!! Social Studies: We are starting our next unit on maps. First, we will talk about neighborhoods and signs as an introduction to our unit. MICRO: Today was our VERY FIRST open Micro City MARKETPLACE day. The kids did a fantastic job. I could not be more proud of them. The first day of business generated lots of future ideas for our Underwater Aquarium. Take the time to ask your child about their first marketplace day!! Below are some pictures from today in our venture! Comments are closed.
