Micro City Constitution
Preamble
We, the citizens of MicroSociety Academy Charter School of Southern New Hampshire, in order to ensure a peaceful and fair environment, promote general happiness and well-being, and improve the future lives of its citizens, do ordain and establish this constitution for MACS. The government of MACS shall be a representative democracy. MACS shall be divided into three parts, the executive, the judiciary, and the legislative.
Article One – The Executive Branch
1. The Executive Branch shall consist of a President, Vice President, a Secretary-Treasurer, and government agencies.
2. Citizens in Grade 3 or higher are eligible to hold any executive office.
3. Each officer shall serve a term of not more than 2 trimesters.
4. The Executive Branch shall be elected in an open election in which all citizens shall have one vote. The winner in the election will be the candidate who receives the highest number of votes.
5. The Executive Branch shall be responsible for proposing laws that seem appropriate and necessary for the welfare of the society.
6. Any bill received by the Executive Branch from Congress will be reviewed by the President. The President will have the ability to veto any bill received from Congress. Otherwise, the President may sign a bill, at which point it shall become law and take
immediate effect.
7. The Executive Branch can create a Bank, a Peace Keeper Department, an Internal Revenue Service, and any other agencies necessary.
8. The President shall determine the budget.
9. The President shall be removed from office only if two-thirds of the citizens vote to do so.
10. The President will be responsible for enforcing laws and running government.
Article Two – The Judicial Branch
1. The Judicial Branch is responsible for determining if a law is constitutional.
2. The Judicial Branch is responsible for settling all matters involving violations of criminal or civil laws.
3. A Judge shall serve for 2 trimesters and is appointed by the faculty.
4. Citizens have a right to a jury trial.
Article Three – The Legislative Branch
1. Congress represents the legislative branch of government.
2. Congress shall be composed of two houses: the House of Representatives and the Senate.
3. In the House of Representatives, each grade shall have a single Representative who is elected by that grade with a majority vote.
4. In the Senate, each grade team shall have a single Senator who is elected by that grade team with a majority vote.
5. Each Senator and Representative shall serve a term of no longer than 2 trimesters.
6. Any proposal for a new law, or for a change in an existing law, must be presented as a bill to Congress.
7. All proposed bills must be approved by a majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
8. A bill which has received approval in both houses of Congress shall be sent to the Executive Branch for final approval.

The Constitution shall be adopted upon approval by a majority of citizens.****
