Hello Kinder Parents, Can you believe we are already in the month of November! Time sure is flying by :) Last weeks FALL PARTY was so much fun! The kids all enjoyed their craft, spooky music and center played throughout the day and of course their special snacks. A HUGE thank you to all of the parents who made that celebration a success!! Kinder students also enjoyed the firefighters visit! As a class we talked about what to do in case of a fire and where to go. I hope they all asked where their MEETING PLACE was for at home. Below are some pictures: CURRENTLY IN KINDERGARTEN
Literacy: -We are working on letters E and R. Students have been practicing listening for the sound and writing the letter in their HWT books. I love hearing from so many students that they are practicing their letters at home with their families :) Kinder friends have also been working on RHYMING words. We are listening for rhyming words in stories and through everyday classroom objects ("sink/pink"). Math: -This week we have a focus on reinforcement of numbers 1-10, understanding of positional words, investigating length of objects and comparing and representing numbers in different ways. Students also enjoyed learning the new "TURKEY TROT" math game. It is perfect for the month of November! Students take turns rolling a dice and counting that many spaces over. Once they land on their correct spot, the student reads the number they have landed on and represent it in a ten frame and wait until their table mates check their work. The game practices counting, turn taking, cooperation and so many other important Kindergarten skill!! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Kindergarten Enrichment: Science: -It is a new month, so students said goodbye to BATS on Monday by filling out and checking the information they have learned over the last month in a KWL chart. On Wednesday, kinder friends were introduced to PUMPKINS. Over the next month, students will learn about pumpkins and investigate lots of scientific things such as comparing and contrasting apples & pumpkins and learning if pumpkins float or sink. Social Studies: -Our current unit is on families! We have shared, drawn and documented who lives in a family and specifically in each students families. We have noticed a lot of connections. Recently, students were given a sentence strip to draw their personal family and where they live. The pictures are adorable and the students love to share about them. On Thursday, we will talk about different types of homes families can live in (houses, apartments, etc.). MICRO -Students have been fully involved in their MICRO venture. Our Kinder MICRO Mentors have helped students pick a job within our venture that is best for them. Jobs were announced today...so ask your child what job they have within our Underwater Aquarium!
