Recess During Winter Months
It is getting colder outside and a few families have reached out to me regarding winter attire and playground use in the winter months. According to our school policy (as seen in the handbook): "Factors such as the outside temperature, wind chill, and the condition of the playground are considered before a decision to cancel outdoor recess is made. Indoor recess is called when the temperature or wind chill is 20° or below. Students should arrive at school expecting to be outside for a portion of the day. Dress should be appropriate for coping with the elements." If there is snow, then students need FULL GEAR (including boots and snow pants), otherwise they get wet outside. If it's cold but there is no snow on the ground, then coat, hat, and gloves/mittens is enough. If the temperature or wind chill is above 20, they WILL be going outside unless there is a doctor's note stating that they should not. Food Drive for Thanksgiving Families in Need: We need your assistance to help local families for Thanksgiving. Any assistance that you can provide is greatly appreciated! We are asking all MACS families to help donate Thanksgiving items so they can be placed in a basket and handed out to a wonderful family next Tuesday! If all items could be donated by Monday, Nov. 20th that would be greatly appreciated. A list of items can be found through the link below: CLICK HERE FOR THE SIGN UP SHEET! Comments are closed.
