Happy October 2nd Families!
I first want to take a moment and thank all of the parents who came to MACS Open House on Wednesday night. I know your days are fully booked and busy, however it was fantastic to see a handful of parents that came. In addition, I am beyond proud of all my Kindergarten students. They have officially finished their first month in school and are adapting extremely well!! Students are understanding daily routines and classroom rules. Our class has been continually told by other MACS staff that they are well behaved and kind individuals. Miss Froleiks couldn't be more proud and hope this continues into month 2 of school! This week in ELA, students will be learning the sounds, handwriting and visual recognition of letters U and I. In Math, students have been exposed to different patterns as well as learning about numbers 0-9 over the last few weeks. We will be looking at patterns more closely in this next week as well as making their own patterns independently. On Monday & Tuesday we will be finishing up learning about the life cycle of an apple and moving towards learning about bats for the month of October during our science block. Lastly, we will learn about Columbus Day and talk about why we have next Monday October 10th off from school. MICRO: On Wednesday we will have our second Town Hall Meeting during our MICRO block. Last week, Kindergarten students came up with a list of questions to ask during Kindergarten MICRO Mentor interviews. We had 6 students in grades 4-6 apply and come interview. After sharing our experiences from each interview group (I broke 5 Kindergartners up to interview 1 MICRO Mentor), students discussed what they liked and disliked about answers they heard from the older students. What a great experience for my students!! Noor and Alicia will be great additions to our Kindergarten venture. **I will be sending home the second SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER form for the month of October. It will be due on FRIDAY OCTOBER 21, 2016. PLEASE SUBMIT ORDERS ONLINE if it is at all possible. Conference sheets will be going home this week. You will be asked to fill out your top 3 choices and then I will be letting you know your selected conference time in both an email and a note going home. It is very important you check your child's BLUE FOLDER daily for important notices like this. Sincerely, Miss Froleiks Comments are closed.
