Hello Kinder Families, What beautiful weekend weather we are having! I hope you are all getting a chance to be outside and have some fresh air. During this past week, all students were assessed on their reading abilities through DRA's (Developmental Reading Assessment). Students will continue being assessed through AimsWeb on more reading skills and math all this week. On Friday evening MACS hosted a talent show! A huge congratulations to Pranav who performed a beautiful piano piece! Below is a picture of him: Important News:
-Scholastic News orders are due by THURSDAY MAY 25th (online or paper orders) -Kindergarten & 1st grade are going to Benson's Park on June 1st. -PERMISSION SLIPS for our field trip are DUE ASAP! -We are also looking for parents to chaperone the field trip who HAVE a completed background check done. -All students must pack a bagged lunch. NO TUPPERWARE...everything must be able to be THROWN OUT. -Art is being switched from Thursday to Friday this week. -Health lesson taught by Mrs. Barry on Wednesday 5/24 -End of year assessments are happening from 5/15 - 5/26 -Spell-a-thon is coming up in early June. Spelling lists & pledge sheets will go home 5/30/17. Field Day News: -MACS field day is happening on June 9th. Kindergarten students NEED TO WEAR a YELLOW colored shirt TO school that day. In addition, there will be an optional tie dye station that our class will rotate through. Over the next few weeks please start to send in a white shirt for your son/daughter. Once they bring it in, I will put it in a zip-lock bag with their name on it and will save it until June 9th. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Kindergarten Enrichment: Science: Students finished up learning about properties and matter. For the remainder of the school year, we will investigate the life cycle of a frog. We began on Friday and have already made connections to when we learned about the life cycle of an apple and pumpkin. Social Studies: Students are finishing up lessons on American Symbol. We have learned about many over the last month and a half and students have begun choosing their favorite. Soon, we will work on computers to TYPE up our favorite type of American Symbol. MICRO : Students who participate in the Underwater Aquarium venture will begin to have scheduled meetings with their managers to go over employee evaluations. Students will be scored in a variety of areas such as behavior, participation, quality of work and attendance (this INCLUDES being dismissed early from micro). Comments are closed.
