Hello Families, Below is the weekly happenings from before vacation! Miss Froleiks is back from Charleston, South Caroline and ready to see her well rested kiddos! We will be starting a countdown to the end of the school year tomorrow :) How exciting! Kindergarten Academics Literacy: Students learned their 3 new sight words: of, some, he. Your child used their writing knowledge to use these sight words in sentences! Students also continued to work on identifying vowel sounds inside words. In addition, Miss Froleiks introduced digraphs to your child. Your child will be learning more about digraphs after vacation. The following are the digraphs we will utilize in class: th, sh, wh, ch. Towards the end of the week, students worked on identifying various story elements in a few different read aloud books. Story elements such as: telling who the characters are, where the setting is, if there was a problem and what its solution etc. Math: This week in math, your child continued to work on their 2 day surveying and collecting data lesson. I was extremely impressed with how the students worked together to collaborate and analyze data that they collected. Below are some pictures of their final projects (graphing their data). Later in the week, students learned about estimation and we were able to estimate different sized jars/containers in class. We discussed why some estimations were good or not good. For example if I had a mason jar filled halfway with M&M's, then you would not estimate that there were 1 millions M&M's in there. Lastly, your child worked to create think of two numbers that add up to equal a number given by me on a sticky note. Students were given a number (5-12) on a sticky note and think of ways to add up. For some students, they needed manipulates to help them, other students could do this activity mentally. Dental Health Visit On Tuesday, Kindergarten and first grade students went upstairs to the MPR to view a dental hygiene presentation. A dental hygienist from Nashua Dentisty came in to share information about why we brush our teeth and how important it really is. MICRO DAY FUN: Thank you to all of the families to attended Micro Day at MACS on Wednesday 4/18! The kids enjoyed showing off their Micro jobs :) Science: In science, we continued to work on identifying various properties in objects. Below is the poster your child references in class. Micro: Congratulations to Sophia L. for being selected at Aprils Employee of the Month! Her managers recognized her for ability to problem solve and ask for help when needed! She seeks out her managers and helps guide her fellow employees. Comments are closed.
